Hi all! Im trying to conceive, just started trying 2 months ago.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's 5 years ago and am currently on Humira. Any tips or advice? Did it take you longer to conceive?

I was diagnosed in Spring 2003 at the age of 14, and my doctor told me it would b nearly impossible  to have children for my situation! I was on 16 pills of pentasa a day and a few different steroids while still in high school! In march of 2005 I found out  on my 16th birthday I was pregnant! That was the worst pregnancy ever, I only gained 5 pounds  my son was ready to delivery at 5 months bc I had no appetite due to my crohns, I was in so much pain I couldn't even get out of bed I spelt in a bath tube of hot water bc that was the only relief I could get bc of my crohns! In may of 2006 I had my first surgery to remove  of my intestines and shortly after that I was on remicade every 8 weeks until I found out I was pregnant in October 2007 this pregnancy was a lot better and simple! So in my situation I didn't have trouble getting pregnant until now and I'm not on any medication bc my doctor doesn't want to put me on anything until I have a flare up!

I am in the same boat. . we are not exactly trying yet (married a year) but it could happen and I just want to make sure I am prepared.  I have had chrons now 2 years and also on Humira; one of my biggest concerns about getting pregnant is the meds that i am currently taking.  I take humira every 2 weeks and also on 6MP.

I do feel the same way and worried (going to me meet a perinatal GYN doctor next week in NYC and just hoping they will say it is okay if it does happen.

Either way, I wish everyone the best and trust me it is a nerve wracking thing but I know good things come to us good people so it will happen and good luck!!!!

Hey, i have had Crohn's Disease for almost 14 years. Pretty severe. I was told at one point my body could not handle carrying a child but in reality that's all up to God. And i now have two healthy daughters. I did have some complications and was on Humira when i got pregnant and was switched to Cimzia during pregnancy because it was seen as safer. I have positive hopes for you too :)

i'm 26 and my husband and i started trying to concieve may 2010. just found out his counts are low. i got diagnosed with crohn's in 2004 and i've been on humira about 5 years now, once a week. honestly i don't know if my corhn's has anythying to do with our "issue" or not, but from all my research supposedly crohn's and humira are not contraindicated for getting or being pregnant! either way, i'm in a similar boat... good luck!smiley
